-The Bloods-
WHo are The Bloods?
The Bloods are a notorious gang centralized in Compton, California. Today you can find Bloods all over the world. Although the Bloods weren't officially formed until the 1970's, people formed alliances within neighborhoods as early as the 1960's. These alliances later formed into larger gangs such as the Bloods and the Crips. Sylvester Scott and Vincent Owens are credited with founding the Bloods. They created the gang to defend themselves against other local street gangs. Now, there are over 20,000 members. Chances are, most of you know a Blood and you don't realize it. Lil Wayne, Kendrick Lamar, Chris Brown, Rich Homie Quan, and Gucci Mane all identify as Bloods. They identify with the color red and are known for their rivalry with the Crips. Often referred to as "Crip Killas" the Bloods use a crossed out "C" to show their hatred for the Crips. The Bloods replace the letter c in words with a b so instead of "Cool," they would say "Bool," and instead of "Compton," they say "Bompton." The original name of the Bloods was "Pirus" because the Bloods were formed on Piru street in Los Angeles, CA. You will often see the word Piru tattooed on members or as graffiti on buildings. The Bloods are known for their illegal drug trade and their battles with rival gangs.
Ashes to ashes,
Dust to dust.
Bloods I trust,
Crabs I bust.
Kill a crab win a prize,
Kill a blood, your whole family dies.

Characteristics of the bloods (ARTIFACTS)
1. Hand Signs
The Bloods have multiple signs that they use to represent themselves. One is a complex hand sign where they spell the word "blood" with their fingers. Another is simply making a "B" or a "b" with your left hand. These signs represent the fact that they are a gang. If someone who is not a Blood uses one of these signs, they will be punished. The individuality of these signs makes the Bloods different from other gangs.

2. The Color Red
The color red is very important to the Bloods. They wear it to show pride in their gang. The color could be shown through a full red outfit or simply through a bandanna. Red is exclusive to the Bloods so it gives the members a sense of individuality from other gangs or groups of people.

The Bloods are a big family. Even if you don't know a fellow Blood personally, you still treat them with the same respect and give them the same amount of love that you would your best friend. You stand with a fellow Blood even if you know they did something wrong. The Bloods have a strong brotherly love and no one could tear them apart.

4. Blood Brotherhood
Whenever a Blood sees a fellow member in distress, he is expected to help them. That is the kind of relationship they have as Bloods. They look out for each other and protect each other. Bloods always have a fellow Blood by their side. They know that they can always rely on each other because they are a gang.
